About Us
In 2020 a group of us began meeting in the Smith's backyard longing to experience God in ways that we read about in the Bible. Our services were pure and simple. We sang to Jesus, like really sang to Him. We opened our Bibles together; starting with Jesus' words in Matthew. We prayed for one another and with one another. And we ate like true San Antonians together, breakfast tacos. We loved that all things were about Jesus and not so much about us. This lead us to planting Bulverde Chapel and keeping this "simple" model of Church.
Spirit and Truth
John 4:23 "But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him."
We want to be people who love worshiping Jesus. We spend time alone in prayer because we are in awe of who our God is. We honor His name, we delight ourselves in His Word, and we offer our bodies as living sacrifices because it pleases Him and is our act of worship. We want to be people who have spiritual markers reminding us of how God has revealed His nature to us. Our worship is solely focused on who God is and we can't wait to gather together to worship Him in Spirit and in truth.
In love with God
Mark 12:29-30 Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
God pursues a love relationship with you. From creation to the cross to today, God is constantly pursuing a love relationship with you. He wants us to respond to this invitation by loving Him back with our heart, soul, mind, and strength. We want to be known for being madly in love with our creator. We know all things come from us abiding in Christ and we encourage one another to grow deeper and deeper in love with God.
Movement
Matthew 9:37-38 "Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
All Church movements are rooted in God's love. 1 John 4:9 "We love because He first loved us." We want to be a people so overflowing with the love of Christ that we can't contain ourselves from spreading His love. We are compelled to live and share the Good News and watch it go viral. We want to be a people who live out their faith by sharing it with our neighbors and making disciples who follow all that Jesus commands of us.
People Oriented
Matthew 28:19-20 "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
We never want to forget our mission here on Earth; to make disciples of all nations and to observe all that was commanded of us. Being people oriented means to love our neighbors. It means to share truth with them, to love them, to spend meaningful time with them. We walk our neighborhoods and are present in our local areas. We evangelize through the relationships that we build. Our goal isn't to build a successful church but to lead others to Christ.
Loving Families
John 13:35 "By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”In John 17 we get to see Jesus pray and express his heart to his Father. He prays that you and I might be one the same way Jesus and the Father are one. Throughout scripture we see Jesus express his vision for the Church: to be a unified body who dearly loves one another. Christ wants us to be known for our love and He claims that our unity would cause others to believe in Him (John 17:23). Our goal is to hurt when another hurts, and to rejoice when one is honored (1 Corinthians 12:26). We seek a bond that exceeds that of our natural family because of our common fellowship with Jesus.
Eternity focused
Philippians 3:20-21 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. In Philippians 1 we read Paul's famous words "to live is Christ and to die is gain." Paul was focused on eternity. We refuse to be citizens of this world and we longingly wait for the return of Christ when we get to head home for eternity. We don't seek comfortable lives here on Earth, but try and view all things from God's perspective. We step out in boldness sharing our faith because eternity is on the line for others as well.
